Proof of action, defined
Proof of action is durable evidence that a person completed a specific action. It can be a photo, a written answer, a count, a timed session or a confirmation. The point is that someone other than your own memory can check it.
Without proof, a goal tracker records intent. With proof, it records what happened.
Why proof matters more than a checkbox
A checkbox tells you that someone tapped a box. It does not tell you whether the work happened. Aksa treats this gap as the core problem: progress, streaks and rank count only verified proof, never an unverified tap or an AI claim.
Proof also gives other people something real to respond to. A photo of finished work or a written reflection is easier to support than a ticked item.
The six proof formats in Aksa
Aksa maps every daily action to one of six formats. Each one captures a different kind of evidence.
- Submit: a live camera photo or a gallery photo
- Answer: a written response to a prompt or a daily reflection
- Counter: a repetition count, such as 50 push-ups or 8 glasses of water
- Timer: a countdown or stopwatch, such as a 25-minute study session
- Check-in: a presence confirmation (location tagging is paused for now)
- Confirm: a tap or hold for yes or no tasks, including things you avoid doing
How strong is each kind of proof?
Not all proof is equally strong, and Aksa says so. A counter can optionally read a consented, read-only daily total from Apple Health or Health Connect, such as steps, and treats it as device-reported evidence. Counting by hand stays available but is unverified. A timer can use a similar optional signal, and manual completion stays unverified.
Aksa also states that health evidence is never presented as tamper-proof, and that a fallback may keep someone participating but never upgrades weak or missing evidence into verified proof.
How to use proof of action
Pick the proof format that fits the task. Use a photo for something you can show, a count for something you can measure, a timer for focused time and a confirm for a simple yes or no. Submit the proof when the task is done, not before.
FAQ
What is proof of action?
Proof of action is durable evidence that you completed a specific task, such as a photo, a written answer, a count, a timed session or a confirmation.
What kinds of proof does Aksa support?
Six formats: Submit (photo), Answer (text), Counter (repetitions), Timer (countdown or stopwatch), Check-in (presence) and Confirm (yes or no).
Is a manual count the same as verified proof?
No. Counting by hand is allowed but stays unverified. Device-reported totals from Apple Health or Health Connect are treated as device-reported evidence, not tamper-proof proof.
Why not just tick a box?
A tick shows a tap, not the work. In Aksa, progress and streaks move only on verified proof.
